Your pet deserves a holiday too!

Travelling to the EU

As the UK is not part of the EU, the guidance for taking your pet on holiday has changed. So even if you have travelled abroad with your pet before, there are some new rules you need to know. Your Pet Passports may not be valid for entry into the EU or Northen Ireland, especially if they were issued in England, Scotland or Wales.

If you are taking a Dog, Cat or Ferret to an EU country, they must have the following:

  • A Microchip (This should be kept up to date at all times)

  • A valid rabies vaccination (Please ensure this is not out of date before you decide to travel as this could cause delays)

  • An Animal health certificate (AHC) - These need to be issued 10 days or less before your travel date

  • Certain EU countries also require tapeworm treatment to be given before entry into the country.

Unlike Pet Passports, Animal health certificates cannot be re-used. You will need a new certificate issued to you for each trip you take.

Travelling outside of the EU

Countries out of the EU all have different requirements regarding entering the country. We advise you to check the rules of the country you are wishing to travel to for any restrictions.
